Product Description
Kuan Yin, the ancient Chinese goddess of Compassion, is the principal deity in the Eastern firmament. Wherever there are Chinese- or Japanese-speaking people in the world, Kuan Yin’s image can be found, and the ritual of consulting her has brought solace, hope, and insight to countless people. In Stephen Karcher’s interpretation of this ancient text, he presents The 100 Poems of the Goddess” in an insightful, extremely easy-to-use form. Simply ask the oracle a question, and by opening your heart to the answer, you allow yourself to be re-arranged” by the symbol or figure Kuan Yin gives you. Then turn to the page for that symbol, where you will find instructions to help you focus your energy and choose the right path to an answer.

| Customer Reviews: Great Guide to Oracle Sticks June 15, 2010 C. Yurchak This Book the Kuan Yin Oracle guide to poems which gives insight into where you are in your karmic pathway. Well written and with great back ground insights into the meanings of the I Ching Book of Changes and it's development. A treasure for those who want clarity of their purpose.

This book, like many other Karcher's books, is full of mythological/psychological knowledge. If you wish to learn about the true culture behind Kuan Yin's oracle, then this is the book, be it you are into cultural anthropology, like me, or you simple wish to open your mind, follow Carl Jung's advice and let a bit of synchronicity play about your life, then this books does not disappoint. For those complaining that the book comes with no sticks and no statue. The majority of the Iching books come with no yarrow sticks. Karcher gives plenty of suggestions, from getting the sticks from a Chinese store (as some did) to making your own, using the popular 100 circles on a sheet of paper approach or simply getting a set of 10 tokens or sticks (lollipop sticks would do) from 00 to 09, you draw twice, 00-00 stands for a hundred, 00-0x stands for that number and so does xx-xx. As for the statue, either buy one from any oriental store, or put one up on your computer screen from the many sites that has them and place the sticks in front of your monitor, or better yet, print it on a nice coloured paper. There! finished. This book brings a wealth of understanding on the philosophical thinking behind Buddhism and has the added bonus of functioning as an oracle for those so inclined.
It is amazingly accurate, for me at least. July 21, 2007 Erin M. Cappy (Bay Area, Ca) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Although I was initially disappointed there were no sticks, my desire to learn this oracle system gave me impetus to go to Chinatown and ask around. (I live in San Francisco so I may have a lil advantage). They sell sticks of fate there with the bamboo cup. If you can't locate that you can a) get bamboo skewer sticks, paint them red on one tip (as the book says) and number them from 1-100 on the other end. find a cup (bamboo preferable)to place them in. You then cast the sticks. simple, or.. b)make a 100 cards and create symbolic art that pertains to the cards meaning. i recommended smudging/cleansing/invoking your oracle tools every time you use them. Every time i cast this oracle Kwan Yin lends me her pearl. It is amazingly accurate, for me at least.
so where's the "oracle" part? April 16, 2005 Dyan J. Bogorodsky (Mountain View, CA USA) 9 out of 16 found this review helpful
Ok, I got the book, but where's the statue and the oracle sticks?
What a rip off!
Rip Off.... October 27, 2004 Reader 15 out of 23 found this review helpful
Ok, so the book itself is good for people interested in working with the 100 poems of Quan Yin. Only one problem...there is no statue or oracle sticks included with the book. So unless you want to make your own sticks, I would forego buying this book.
