Product Description Value stream management simplifies planning for lean implementation. It links the metrics and reporting required by management with the tools needed on the manufacturing floor. In this volume, the authors stress the importance of reaching beyond single-point kaizens to ensure a sustainable lean implementation process. The central feature of this work is the value stream management storyboard, a tool representing an eight-step process for lean implementation. The storyboard brings together people, tools, metrics, and reporting into one visual document. The book is packaged with a CD containing a lean assessment tool and a storyboard template, as well as charts, forms, and worksheets.

Perfect October 30, 2008 Fredrick Arnstein (Newton, MA USA) This is a 'lean' book -- it has no fat, no excess words. Yet it's comprehensive enough to guide someone through all the basics of lean. It provides step-by-step instructions, with good examples, and lots of forms. And it is easy, almost pleasant, to read. I bought it because the other reviews were very favorable, and they were right.
Practical book August 13, 2007 Pyykoenen Markku (Kuhmo, Finland) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
VSM books shows interesting process to apply modern control thinking to production. However, clear products standardisation & determination process could be necessary before methods can be applied as well as possible. Discussed waste elimination is generally nice approach. Waste elimination possibilities in organisations should to be evaluated with this book and more generally at lean bibliography, because elimination of waste helps almost everybody. :)
