5 out of 5 stars Changed my life   March 12, 2010
K. Green
This book came into my life at just the right time. I was a mess and did not know how to deal with all of the emotions that came along with my breakup. By doing the inventories, it has not only gotten me over my breakup, but I am getting over all of the other areas in my life that needed work. I am now excited about my future and am finally at peace in my life. Thank You!

5 out of 5 stars Best break-up book available. Period.   February 25, 2010

Among dozens of the break-up books I have read, this one is by far the best. The thing I like about the book is its combination of various scientific techniques under the covers to help you heal properly. There are a lot of books out there which focus only on the future, they try to make you forget and move on as soon as possible, without much introspection for yourself and for your past. This book is different. It places an emphasis on introspection and self-awareness, yet it isn't a solely theoretical psych workbook. It emphasizes balance in your life. It attempts to teach you that you will be fine no matter what as long as you have a great relationship with yourself. This book focuses on fixing the foundation (the concept of core-self) instead of trying to alleviate the symptoms, yet gives practical advice when it is time to go out and meet people. It has proved to be a great value in my recovery and I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars The Best of This Genre   February 25, 2010

Having recently gone through a horrific breakup, I have armed myself with a plethora of self help break up books. Some were useless; some had a couple good points, but this book has more to offer than any in my collection. Lots of wisdom...lots of compassion...lots of practical advice...lots of psychological insight. It has it all. Is sensible and written in an easy to read, easy to understand style.

I always mark these books with highlighter pen when I read them the first time to go back and reread the most helpful points. In this case, I practically highlighted the whole book. Yes, it's that good.

Anyone suffering and feeling stuck, I highly recommend this one.

Fresh from a breakup where I was dumped out of the blue when everything was so blissful, I stumbled across the author's blog and from there, I discovered this book. I can't even begin to describe enough how much of a lifesaver this book really is to me.

For those of you who have experienced heartbreak and are left with all of the "why's", "what happened?", "how can this be?", etc. I highly recommend you get this book! This book provides an awesome step by step process of what you're feeling and how to deal with those feelings. It also helps you to fight the urge to pine for someone who's already walked out the door. It helps you to get over your breakup with your dignity in tact. This book is definitely a must have for the brokenhearted!

5 out of 5 stars No-nonsense wisdom on moving on to a better life   February 9, 2010

From this book and the blog [...], I learned about what "closure" really means, why it's best for everyone to cut off all contact, and how to set boundaries and start having standards in which to live by. I finally "got it" that searching compulsions are normal, but acting on them isn't the healthy choice to make. I must say, this book is not just about coping with a breakup, it's really about first picking up the pieces, and then finding your own identity and learning that love truly comes from within.

This book is unlike many other breakup books because the advice here is direct and no-nonsense. It goes beyond the "keep-yourself-busy" advice and guides you towards a deeper understanding of yourself and your choices. I thank the author and this book for finally letting me see what I owned and didn't own in the failure of the relationship. I learned not to blame myself or the ex, and forgive myself by moving forward and creating the best life possible for myself.

My testament is this: The book and everything it teaches led me to live a wonderful life. Since my breakup, I have learned to feel truly happy and grateful for everything that I am today.
