Product Description Whether it's charming wallet-size photo-booklet party favors or slideshows with dazzling transitions and synched-up soundtracks that users want to create with iPhoto, chances are they don t want to learn about every last iPhoto feature and function to do so. They just want to create something quickly--and this colorful, compact guide lets them. Veteran author Elizabeth Castro starts at the beginning, showing readers how to import, organize, edit, and select the best photos for use in their iPhoto books and slideshows. From there, she launches into the heart of this book--project-based instruction for creating books and slideshows with iPhoto. Throughout the focus is on doing as full-page, full-color screen shots and simple, step-by-step instructions lead readers through the process of assembling their first books and slideshows with iPhoto. Along the way, users will learn to take advantage of iPhoto's coolest new features: a slew of useful image-editing tools; an improved book-creation engine that lets you drag and drop photos into different layouts with ease; new ways to store, browse, and edit images; and a wider variety of styles, options, and layouts for photo books.

Castro iPhoto 5 September 22, 2006 M. Hardyman (Olympic Peninsula, WA) Excellant book for beginners. Takes you through the process step by step with exercises. A bonus: the book is illustrated with nice photos of some general interest.
Very useful not only for beginners! May 24, 2006 markai (Europe) While most of the near-150 pages are filled with screenshots accompanied by concise explanations set in bigger-than-usual type, Castro's coverage of iPhoto still comprises far more detail and facts than I had expected given the common "introductory"-type positioning of this title. Apparently, Castro does a lot of topic research and testing before she writes about something. And on top of that, she manages to express her knowledge and experience crystal clear with a minimum of wording -- kudos! While the title focusses on only two of maybe half a dozen of iPhoto's core functions, Castro certainly covers 80 percent if not more of what a user of this software can know about it. And she does so mostly just as comprehensive as other and more voluminous books on iPhoto, and in some areas she even goes way beyond and deeper. Only the advanced image editing with exposure, saturation etc settings comes off a bit short, but this isn't part of the advertised topics. Consquently, I am deciding to award all 5 Stars.
