Product Description Now established as one of the leading introductory texts for students studying these subjects, this new edition combines a non-rigorous approach to the subject with applications in economics and business. Fundamental mathematical concepts are explained as simply and briefly as possible, using a wide selection of worked examples, graphs and real-world applications.

too big November 3, 2008 Richard Almasi (Europe) I used an earlier edition of this book for a class in mathematics for economics. This book may be ideal to a teacher, but as a student I found it very cumbersome to work through, it's as thick as a brick! By the time you work through this book you would have been able to complete Chiang's book Fundamental Methods of Mathematical Economics, which has much deeper coverage than Bradley and gives you professional preparation for postgraduate work in economics. Even better, this 600+ page book could have been shrunk down to the same size as Mavron's book Elements of Mathematics for Economics and Finance of ~340 pages. Now, there's efficiency. That's my point, why 600 pages when it can be covered in 300? It is not efficient use of space, just waste of time. This said, I still give it 3 stars because it does explain the concepts in an excellent way - I never had any problems understanding the material. But please, for the sake of all students, abridge it for the next edition!
Good book for Professors and Students January 3, 2007 J. Lucio (California) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am a teacher of Introductory Mathematics for Economics. Traditionally, it is not very easy to find good introductory books of Mathematical Economics. I consider this book to be one of the best. It covers the most important mathematical concepts and techniques such as functions, differentiation, partial differentiation, integration, differential equations, financial mathematics. In all the chapters the reader will find several progress exercises adequate to an introductory level. The authors clearly show a great deal of concern with the economic applications. This is one of the best aspects of this book: for every mathematical technique explained, the authors present several economic applications. If you are an undergraduate student of Economics or Business you will find this book extremely useful. If you are a Professor you will discover several interesting examples of mathematical applications to Economic analysis.
