Product Description Nonprofit? Stay out of IRS trouble with the ultimate corporate housekeeping tool!
Nearly 1.5 million nonprofit organizations are busy preserving historic sites, saving libraries, helping the homeless, greening our cities- and so much more. Yet, while some have sophisticated record-keeping systems, most nonprofits are staffed by volunteers who need help running the organization and keeping up a proper -- and legal --paper trail.
Help has arrived! With Nonprofit Meetings, Minutes & Records, you'll get the all-in-one solution every nonprofiteer needs to hold meetings and document actions taken by board members.
Step by step, it walks readers through:
calling meetings appointing officers taking minutes making resolutions voting on proposals adjourning meetings working with a lawyer, if necessary, and finding a tax adviser.
Nonprofit Meetings, Minutes & Records also provides useful tips and advice on how to do important tasks, such as organizing records, preparing meeting folders, and taking minutes. Plus, all necessary documents are included on the CD-ROM. It's everything you need to keep your nonprofit running smoothly and legally.

The Nuts and Bolts of Nonprofit bookkeeping December 19, 2008 Gabriel E. Borlean (San Jose - Capital of Silicon Valley, California USA) If you are starting or have a non-profit organization, than this is the book for your to help you keep everything in order (meetings, minutes, and records). Nolo's are in invaluable source in today's market. Why pay the lawyer fees, when you've got Nolo's ?
Non profit meetings records protocol December 19, 2008 W. DEMEDIO (Oz) A valuable protocol guide for recording meetings involving not for profit groups. Modeled after the rules of standard meeting minutes recording, this book is fine tuned to the needs of non profit organizations. It is a must have guide for any officer of a not for profit institution.
Well organized, useful information. December 19, 2008 Nikki S. (Texas) This seems like a very handy book - its organized neatly in an easy-to-read format; has multiple appendices containing sample forms and corporate contact information, as well as a lengthy index for ease of use; and even includes a CD-ROM to help you create documents you'll need. I was impressed by the size of the book and how user-friendly it is.
A good addtion to the non-profit legal library November 30, 2008 Mike (CA) This book is not a self contained guide to setting up or running a non-profit and does not claim to be. Therefore you should consider this book as part of an overall library. The book does seem fairly pricey considering it is quite small/slim, however given the CD and amount of practical legal information I consider the book value for money. Chapter 1 outlines the base documentation required for a non-Profit to become incorporated and get IRS tax exemption, with subsequent chapters provide a framework and guidance for recording meetings to ensure that the non-profit doesn't lose it's status. Appendix A Covers using accessing the information on the CD, appendix B covers where the url for the Corporate filing and explanation of where to find the relevant corporate law and appendix C contains hardcopy ssome amples of the various forms described in the text. If you have been running an incorporated non-profit you will probably benefit from comparing your procedures with those in this book. If you are thinking of incorporating this will outline the extra work that needs to be done and how to record it. The availability of the all the described documentation on the CD is more than worth the cover price for someone just starting up. Another good addition to the NOLO library.
Definitive! November 25, 2008 Tell It Like It Is (good ole USA) This helpful book/CD provides all the information you will need to successfully run a nonprofit corporation. Chapters are well organized and succinct. No fluff here. I don't know how often nonprofit statutes are revised, but this book, published in 2008, is certainly up to date. This book tells you what you need to do, and then shows you how to do it. A very useful tool, indeed!
