Product Description
Have you ever been in the middle of an interview and silently wondered how things were going? Wondered if you were still being considered for the job or if you had already blown it? How would you feel if you knew that decision was made in the first few minutes? A new epidemic is affecting teens across the nation in their ability to get the necessary job experience to carry them throughout their careers. Recent studies have shown that teen unemployment is rising due to increased competition from older people and immigrants due to their maturity, work ethic, and being easier to work with.

Leave Your Nose Ring at Home is based on 20 years of bizarre, unusual, and absolutely crazy interviews that the author has encountered with young people. Think Paris Hilton getting an extreme makeover from Miss Modest. Written in a witty, irreverent style, the book will prepare you for the service industry interview by giving you the straight answers on what it takes to score that first job. If you are striking out and not being hired, this book will have you on the payroll in no time.

The majority of service industry jobs are filled by students, moonlighters, housewives, retirees, immigrants, and those hanging around until they can get what they would call a "real job." It is a high turnover industry guaranteeing regular job openings and easy entry.

Several of the first impression tips you ll learn includes:

How to win the job in the first few minutes
How to make yourself irresistible to any hiring manager
How to make the leap from seasonal to permanent
Why a resume can be the kiss of death
How to double your chances to get the job

Leave Your Nose Ring at Home is a must-read for anyone wanting to get to the top of the applicant food chain within minutes.

This is really an amazing book to read! The author writes from his own, direct experience as an interviewer. He allows you to tap into his mind during the process of the interview. To me, it doesn't matter what job you are looking for, because this book is a great tool for you to have on your journey. Open your mind, and "Leave Your Nose Ring at Home" will change your life.

Some people wear nose rings for religious/cultural reasons. Even white women can be married into a different religion/culture.

This book is not worth reading...

5 out of 5 stars A Wonderfully Fresh View of How Best to Obtain & Prepare for That Important Job Interview   June 10, 2006

An easy read for anyone, as the author demonstrates the importance of creating a "Powerful First Impression" with meaningful yet often humorous stories and interviews. The target audience are those who may be seeking employment within the service and/or retail sectors, i.e., the young or less experienced worker and the author does an excellent job of providing invaluable insight on preparing for the interview process. I particularly enjoyed the analogy between an actor rehearsing for a desired role and an applicant preparing for one's important job interview. A must read for anyone preparing to enter the workforce or simply wishes to advance his or her career.
