Amazon.com Review From Emma Bull's War for the Oaks to Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series, from The X-Files to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, creators are mixing old European myths and legends with modern American pop culture. Incorporating influences ranging from blaxploitation movies and erotic novels to tabloid staples like UFOs and Elvis, authors and directors are creating a new mythology for the strip-mall, tract-house, cell-phone America of the new millennium. One of the best-known and best writers of the new American mythology is Charlaine Harris. Dead to the World is the fourth novel in her Anthony Award-winning Southern Vampire series. It continues the story of psychic waitress Sookie Stackhouse, who has fallen out with her undead lover, Bill. Bill has no sooner departed for Peru, than Sookie finds the head vampire, Eric, running naked and terrified through the rural night. She helps Eric, and discovers his memory has been destroyed by a coven of unscrupulous, astonishingly powerful witches, newly arrived in her small Louisiana town, and offering a huge reward for Eric. Sookie tries to hide Eric, but her brother sees him--and immediately disappears. And Sookie finds herself caught in a war among witches, vampires, and werewolves. --Cynthia Ward
Product Description When cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse sees a naked man on the side of the road, she doesn't just drive on by. Turns out the poor thing hasn't a clue who he is, but Sookie does. It's Eric the vampire--but now he's a kinder, gentler Eric. And a scared Eric, because whoever took his memory now wants his life.

loved eric and sookie together January 7, 2009 Yvonne Gammell (cali, usa) I know that Sookie has had Bill as her first love but he has left her and betrayed her. While eric has always been truthful with her and protected her and done things for her to make her happy. he has in his own right loves her. I would personally love to see the two together. They are a very steamy together. I hope that out of all of the loves she has shared that Eric is the one she ends up with. when she had the bomb and quinn told her where are the vamps? Eric was right there because he loves her. I think she loves him too.
Better than Laurel K Hamilton January 4, 2009 M. Strickler How refreshing. Finally, I have found something to replace Laurel K Hamiltons drivel. I started this book with some trepidation, thinking it would maybe lead to Sookie being no better than Anita the vamp, orgy mistress, vampire hunter. I was pleasantly surprised and will go out and get the first three.
Read it straight through January 3, 2009 Gigi Sara (Los Angeles) I loved this 4th book in the series. It changed my alliance from Vampire Bill to Vampire Eric, whereas I used to think Vampire Eric was somewhat annoying. I read this book straight through in one sitting until 5 o'clock in the morning - it was that engaging.
My favorite book in the series so far December 30, 2008 Erin M. Murphy (Boston, MA) I just started reading the series since HBO came out with True Blood. As much as I've loved & enjoyed each of the books so far, Dead to the World has been my favorite. I found this one most humorous & entertaining and love the development of the characters. I don't want to say much more as I would end up giving away the story, but definitely don't miss this one!
THE BEST BOOK IN ALL THE SERIES December 29, 2008 Evelyn Vasquez (Miami Beach,FL USA) THIS IS THE BOOK!!! I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE ERIC!!!!! I LOVE THIS BOOK IT'S THE BEST ONE IN ALL THE SERIES, ERIC IS SO HANDSOME!!!!! I RECOMEND THIS BOOK TO EVERYBODY
