You have a pretty good chance of reading an excellent book, if was written by Deepak Chopra. He is one of those people that actually make me feel more calm and serene just by reading his words of wisdom, and I believe that, unlike some other spiritual writers, he actually practices what he writes.
The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success is a tiny book that packs a lot of wisdom. Chopra has tackled a subject that is close to many of us - success - but rather it's more than just success at work (i.e. promotions, etc.) it is about feeling successful within yourself, and in order to get there you have to find and discover your spiritual side. This is much easier written than done: we, as human beings, do not naturally tend to favor our spiritual side.
However, this book manages to meld the spiritual side and the success of having a happy, serene life. Each of the Spiritual Laws is clearly outlined and I particularly love the one about giving and receiving and equating it to love. Actually, Chopra associates all of his spiritual laws with love and its wonderful.
This book is a quick read, but is full of interesting, challenging and absolutely riveting truths.

Deepak Chopra's work was amazingly helpful, life-saving, and this litte book is just great! Especially in those crisis moments. Panicked? Just pick it up, breathe deeply, and read. That will calm your circuits right down. Fear is contageous -- and because of what is going on now in the country -- we are caught in the midst of a full-on fear-epidemic. But take heart, listen to your soul and rmember that you are immortal, whether you believe it or not.

For starters, I love the concept of the "pocket-book", "mini-reader", "quick-book". I like this concept because it's my opinion that a shorter more concise book that is dense, rather than filled with fluff just to get the page count up, is for starters more honest, and second, more useful to an average "self-help" reader (in my opinion of course). I absolutely love reading self-help books, but I also love reading more scientific type psychology books. When I read a scientific type book, I can deal with it being a little longer to account for including case-studies and such. However, when reading a "self-help" book, I want it to be quick and direct. I want the basic point spelled out clearly so that I can quickly attempt to implement the strategy for myself, to see if it can be useful to me. If it's too long and filled with fluff, it becomes cumbersome and looses it's usefulness for me. A self-help book should be like a really good owners manual would be. - Thus, my point here is that this particular title by Mr. Chopra was the most user-friendly. It gives you the message quickly, and tries to avoid all the extra ego/chatter, ie; "listen to me because I like saying stuff". This book doesn't do that, it gives you the message in a way that allows it to actually be useful. Studies have shown that the more bloated the subject matter becomes, the less useful it becomes to the average person. - Think of the IRS's Tax Code for example, or any other legislation for that matter. It has also been suggested that these types of bloated pontificating are often used as a strategy to confuse and frustrate people, leaving them less likely to argue with the content, because people have a natural inclination to be less likely to act if they are not confident in their knowledge of the subject. Essentially, they don't want to look foolish by spouting off (either publicly or privately) about something if they are not confident in their ability to defend their position. - This is one of the reasons I consider "The seven spiritual laws" to be a good honorable book. It's length lends itself to being useful.
