Never have so many extrapolated so much out of so little. November 27, 2008 B. Chandler (Arlington, Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A concept born in a simpler time used as an excuse for many things from Socialism to controlled capitalism. As with any pivotal work one should read it for his/her self. There is always the chance of misinterpretation by an individual, but if you do not read this then you are just accepting someone's word anyway. This is more than an economics book it is a way of life. It sounds good on paper but makes a lot of assumptions. Instead of worrying about workability, look at the logic that is built on assumptions of that time (written, in 1848). Add this to your library. You can pick a side (pro or con) and make a stand if you like; but look at the size of this book and realize that many people will just use the title and build their own case. You will have read the real thing. And be sure to balance it with. "The Capitalist Manifesto" by Louis O. Kelso The Capitalist Manifesto by Louis O. Kelso and Mortimer J. Adler

I wrote the seller an e-mail asking to cancel my order, and as far as I know I was still charged and I have yet to get the book. Plus they sent me an email saying the book was on the way 3 weeks ago. I hope it was just micommunication.
A Classic August 4, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
True, you can read this for free on the Internet (which Marx would encourage despite copyright laws), but who wouldn't want to have this as part of their personal collection? Yeah, so I read this on the Internet, but now I find myself buying a copy. It's about 40 pages of pure communist thinking . . . at times boring, but at other times quite incredible. If you're buying this book, I also suggest a book by Rius that is a cartoon all about understanding Marx. It'll help you understand the logic behind the Manifesto if you're reading it for the first time.

I like this edition because it's actually in pamphlet form, as it was intented to be when it was first written. It's cheap, it's simple.. what more can you ask for?Plus there is just a delighting little preface at the beginning!

One of the all time greatest books proclaiming the communist ideas though if you really want the greatest you have to read Das Kapital (Capital)!
