Impressive Work in Every Respect ! January 3, 2009 Richard R. Hammond (Burlington, VT USA) This is a most impressive book in every respect. I still cannot get over how beautiful the pictures are and how appropriate the layout of the text is in relation to the pictures. A true treasure. The authors and compilers of this work have accomplished a remarkable thing in creating this book. Every time I open its pages, I learn something new and my faith is edified.
A big, ornate cathedral of a book January 1, 2009 Cynthia L. Stone (Fairfax Station, Virginia) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Much more than an atlas, this is a big, ornate cathedral of a book. I came across Biblica in the reference section of my public library. I was so taken with the book, I bought two copies to give to my pastor and favorite Bible study teacher. Written by a team of distinguished academics and Bible scholars, Biblica includes 650 high quality color images of paintings, sculptures and scenic photographs. There are 125 maps, some of them spanning two full pages, showing prominent locations, journeys, battles, kingdoms and empires discussed in the Bible. For example, page 167 shows a full page map tracing possible routes the Israelites may have taken on their journey from Egypt to the Promised Land. The first 89 pages include extensive sections on the development of the Bible, Bible archeology, and the geography and history of Bible lands. From there the book explains the geography, history, and cultures of the Bible chronologically, every page adorned with stunning artwork, illustrations, maps and photographs. The back of the book includes informative tables, extensive family trees, a bibliography and glossary.
Bible Atlas December 20, 2008 Sylvia S. Raber Biblica: The Bible Atlas is truly THE Bible Atlas. Besides being beautifully illustrated, it includes a wealth of Bible information. The maps are outstanding. It's worth every penny and is a stunning book.
Bible History December 2, 2008 Donna Ditaranto (Apex NC) A wonderful tool to assist in Bible study. The names of ancient lands change throughout the centuries and this helps to identify Bible references. Also, it is beautiful illustrated.
Entertaining and Educational November 3, 2008 A. Babjak This book is visually striking, especially when placed on a regular bookshelf. The illustrations and maps make this especially useful for kids (maybe 8+), and the depth of reading is good for all ages. For example, the aspects of the journeys of Paul are thoroughly explained such as the culture of the times and travels of Paul, maps, and biblical and historical information. Each of the elements are put together with beautiful artwork to make learning about the travels of Paul interesting and revealing. This is very useful for your bible study library whether you have a family or not.
