A Great Book December 23, 2008 J. Horton (Louisville, KY.) PDR Drug Guide for Mental Health Professionals This is a smaller version of the Physician PDR specifically for Mental Health practicianers. It is up to date, easy to use and is the first source I use regarding medication. I order one every year...every year more psychotrophic medications become available.
Excellent resource for chemical dependency counselors October 12, 2008 Cheryl Lund (Wrenshall, MN) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book provides current information regarding drugs clients may be taking, their side effects, alternatives, symptoms, etc. A must-have for any counselor's desk.
Great Book August 29, 2008 Amy M. Fenske (La Crosse, WI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I highly recommend this book for professionals who work in the mental health field or for those who work in Child Protection or a related field that might need a quick reference for medications that their clients might be on if you aren't already familar with it.
PDR Drug Guide for Mental Health Professionals, 3rd ed. (Pdr Drug Guide for Mental Health Professionals) January 7, 2008 Michelle Willix (Boulder, co United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I love this book. I use it all the time. I especially like the pics of the meds since many clients come in saying they took "the orange pill". It helps identify what meds they are taking. I often use it to educate my clients about the medication, the side-effects, what to look for, what to avoid, how to take it. It helps me support my clients more. I highly recommend it.
needed more than this book had to offer August 21, 2003 12 out of 18 found this review helpful
I found this book of limited use because anyone dealing with prescribed medications in the mental health field is also usually dealing with someone taking other medications- for pain, sleep, GI distress, etc. So having a book on only mental health medications has not been that helpful to me. It is worth getting a more comprehensive book.
