So much fun. Great for yourself or to use on a Girls Night Out! January 7, 2009 S. Reagan (Maryland) I am 35, married with kids and I loved this personality book. It was so much fun to take the tests on my own but brining it out with a couple of girlfriends over and a bottle of wine is hysterical. The tests are anything about love, your personality, employment, values, politics, etc... Loads of fun. I also love that it is spiral bound. Much easier to use. Highly recommend.
Just for fun - NOT self help December 17, 2008 the ArtWench (the Deep South) If you love those little quizzes that abound in women's magazines, then this book will delight you. If you are looking for serious answers to life's questions, this is not the book you need. The author, Robin Westin, is a journalist and daytime television writer; NOT an expert in the field of psychology or sociology. Though she does throw in some quotes from bona fide sources, this book is more for entertainment than self-help. Be aware that the author's political and spiritual belief's color the answers to the questions. And I did find myself rejecting some of her conclusions based on my own studies in color theory, psychology, etc. But, if you are looking for a little bit of light entertainment, this book will provide it.
Unrealistic, difficult for many women to identify with even for entertainment value December 15, 2008 Jennifer Ray (Nashville, TN United States) In this day and age, personality tests abound on the internet and many of us can't resist taking a few of these every now and then. When I spotted THE BIG BOOK OF PERSONALITY TESTS FOR WOMEN: 100 FUN-TO-TAKE, EASY-TO-SCORE QUIZZES THAT REVEAL YOUR HIDDEN POTENTIAL IN LIFE, LOVE, AND WORK, it looked like a fun and entertaining way to pass a little time. So I ordered the book. When I received it, I tucked it in my tote bag to take with me to a friend's house for a dinner party one night - just us girls. We took a number of the quizzes from this book together. The quizzes are billed as entertaining, which is good, as they are certainly not based on any scientific analysis or reasoning. But for our group, every quiz we took had several questions which had no answers that befitted any of our group, forcing us to choose the closest possible match amongst the multiple choice answers. Consequently, we all soon became frustrated with these tests. It felt like we were left completely out of whatever demographic this book is intended for, although it is simply billed as being personality tests for women. Our group contained a nicely diverse collection of women, and still we found that all of us were frequently not considered in the possible answers. Also, the tests are skewed to always look for a positive outlook. While I am one of those annoying `glass-is-half-full' people, even I found this rather dismaying, as if the fact that I didn't fit into the mold set forth by the author in this book I were failing in my life, career, or relationships somehow. All in all, I found the book less than entertaining, as did my companions. It is well written, but does not promote outlooks and profiles that the average woman will easily identify with.
Apparently an Excellent Pastime December 7, 2008 Peter A. Greene (Franklin, PA United States) I am not, personally, a woman. However, I work with a large group of very intelligent teenage girls who often need ways to amuse themselves, so I handed this over to them. They have been amused and entertained for hours by these. The tests are short and simple, so it need not be an all-afternoon project to work through the book. I did notice, however, that there was a kind of potato chip effect to them. My book testers did feel that many of the tests were more appropriate for an older audience. But they still enjoyed the book. The tests are short and simple, so don't expect to find deep insights into the depths of your psyche here. But there are still some interesting items covering a wide rage of topics. It would be great fun at a bachelorette party or shower, even a family gathering. And if you're regularly around large groups of women, you cen leave this lying out to help them pass the time.
Fun and Eye Opening Book! December 5, 2008 M. Waters (Maryland) I really enjoyed The Big Book of Personlity Tests for Women! The quizzes and tests were extremely fun and I actually learned a couple of new things about myself. This book is filled with just about every kind of personality test you can think of from "Are you a Perfectionist?" to "How Ambitious Are You?" I would definitely recommend this book to women who would like to gain more insight about themselves while having fun. You won't be disappointed!
