It works January 6, 2009 Marsha E. Whitt (Georgia) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
If you will follow all the techniques in this book it will work. I got book around thanksgiving. Normally every year during the holidays I put on 12 pounds from Thanksgivings till New years eve. This year using the CD and the tapping technique I lost 10 pounds over the holiday and ate what I wanted even to the point on eating a small losf of fruit cake over the six weeks. I listen to the CD every night and every day. Only takes 28 minutes. At night I go to sleep listening to it. I have a cheese cake here that has been here over six weeks in freezer. Before that would have been gone in less than a week. I eat it when i want it--so far don't crave like I use to.
Interesting Approach January 5, 2009 Dobrin 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
Well, this is an interesting approach to losing weight! I just got the book last week so I am not sure what the long-term outcome will be. However, as for now I like the book and the idea of working on my subconscious. I believe that with a little practice of the principles laid out by the author you could learn to love yourself and that this could actually bring about good results. I also believe that the included CD can be really helpful. I listen to it each evening after going to bed, just before falling asleep. I know it for a fact that this self-hypnosis method has already been proven even by people trying to quit smoking. Many of us know the basic principles of losing weight. However Paul McKenna shows his readers a way of doing that with no need for a big sacrifice that cause us to fail in the long run. It seems that Paul can indeed make you thin... I am over 40 and controlling my weight has become more difficult in the last few years. I recognized long time ago that all the "wonder diets" that are based on willpower never work in the long run. The most helpful book so far in that respect was for me Your Body Maintenance Handbook. It helped me control my weight for the last few years. The author of the book, similar like Paul McKenna, concentrates on the many reasons that drive people to obesity. Both authors also suggest slow eating, chewing each bite well, and concentrating on the taste of food. Now, I am trying McKenna's approach and I am hopeful that it will improve my good grip on my weight. On the negative side I find "I Can Make You Thin" rather expensive considering the amount of information it contains. I think this book should not cost more than $10. For that reason I subtracted one star of the rating.
I don't eat emotionally anymore January 5, 2009 Matt Mullin (New York, NY) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
When I saw Paul McKenna's TV show last year, I thought a lot of what he said made sense, but I never tried to apply any of his advice to my life. Since I bought and read the book last week, I've made it my mission to apply the golden rules to my eating habits. A lot of what he says is practical advice but he gives you brand new ways to change your approach to food. The biggest change I've noticed so far is going out to eat. I went to dinner at a restaurant yesterday and I ate slowly and noticed when I felt full like Paul McKenna says. When I was full, I still had over half of my steak left. I got a doggie bag and had it for lunch today. I haven't had steak for lunch in years and it saved me a trip to the local deli for a sandwich. I'd recommend this book to anyone who has tried and failed on other diets or anyone who can't always control what kinds of food they have for meals (like parents who eat what their kids eat). It's a quick read and he's got a great writing style. Highly recommended.
I love Paul! January 5, 2009 elizabethp 5 out of 9 found this review helpful
My cousin in the UK was on this plan and lost 75 lbs! She couldn't stop raving about it. I could never find the book over here so I'm glad to see it finally came out! I bought it and started listening to the CD this morning. Wish me luck with my New Year's resolution!
