Product Description Hypnosis is a proven technique that allows people to reprogram their subconscious to change unwanted behaviors. Most books on self-hypnosis require the reader to memorize or record scripts, then put the book aside while they do their hypnosis work. But Instant Self-Hypnosis is the only self-hypnosis book that allows you to hypnotize yourself as you read, with your eyes wide open, without putting down the book. The author's fail-proof method allows you to put yourself into a hypnotic state and then use that state to improve your life in myriad ways. And because the hypnotic state is induced while you read, you remain aware of your surroundings and can bring yourself back to normal consciousness slowly and gently, using the instructions provided.

I Love This Book January 6, 2009 Prokopton (London, UK) Let me just crowd one more positive review onto this page. This book is fantastic. You hypnotize yourself by reading the book, it's so very simple. A couple of different inductions are offered (including a deepening script). Then you go to the page for the self-improvement you want to make, read it through, read the wake-up, and you're done. The thing is, it works! That's the most important point. This book works. I have gained in every area of my life that I addressed with this technique. The scripts are good - mostly direct suggestion with some metaphor and some useful post-hypnotic suggestions built in as well. It's all so easy. The author really understands hypnosis and the trance state, and is very well clued-in on how to motivate in particular areas. There's more to say. As other reviewers have mentioned, after a while you can go further than the scripts presented. I've started reading pro books on hypnosis and I'm so inspired I may even become a trained hypnotist because this book has really shown me the power and beauty of it. It's so wonderful to write your own scripts knowing they will work - nobody knows better than oneself how to push one's own buttons. You can use the method in different ways from the ones Blair indicates. I personally went to an older method of induction for myself, one that I'd used before- not reading, just regular eyes-closed self-hypnosis. Then after doing some other stuff I'll open my eyes, read a script, and then shut my eyes again and wake myself up. It works. This way I don't have to recall scripts or aims within the trance state itself, but I can get to trance quicker through my method than through reading the script. You don't need to read aloud, or at least I don't. Blair reckons the *sound* of the voice is what matters, but to me the mentally-read words alone, if you're in a heightened state of attention and relaxation, are sufficient. But that leads me to my final point. I should have figured out Blair's technique years ago. He has done the work I should have done! Not that I'm bitter, because the method works so well I don't care, but I'd like to make this observation to the readers of this review: if you love reading, this book will work on you, and the more you love reading and the longer you have loved it for, the better it's going to work. I absolutely knew it was going to work almost as soon as I started reading it. Some are going to doubt that hypnosis whilst reading is even possible - what I'm saying is, relax and don't doubt it. I already knew it was possible, and Blair makes the point in the book: whenever you read a good novel you are going into trance. You forget your surroundings and become involved in an inner world. As someone who read a trashy fantasy novel a day when I was a kid, I *knew* this - I'd noticed it consciously many times. I'd even noticed as an adult that some of my subconscious memories of those books were operating as post-hypnotic suggestions! As a kid, did you ever walk out of a Superman movie actually believing that somehow, in some way, you yourself could fly? It's the same thing. It's such a natural thing, no-one notices how great it is, what the possibilities are - if you use it in a totally positive and controlled way like this, in line with the best you can imagine. Since growing up I've several times had direct trance experiences from reading. I've had energy experiences reading energy books, a near-OBE experience reading an OBE book, a spiritual experience reading a spiritual web page (!) - and yes, like Blair himself, I've gone into a hypnotic trance simply from reading a trance induction. But unlike Blair, I never continued doing that - instead, I went back to doing things the 'proper' way everyone was taught. That's why I say the author has done the work I should have done! He noticed this phenomenon, went into it, explored it, and now offers it to everyone else. This book was practically written for someone like me, but I have a feeling that it will work well on anyone. If you love reading (especially if you are very good at that skill of completely "disappearing into" a book) and want to work on yourself in basically a totally effortless manner - buy this book now. I just bought Blair's second book, 'Self-Hypnosis Revolution', and I like the look of that one alot too. This Forbes Robbins Blair is one smart cookie! Very highly recommended.
Not Bad, and Not Good either December 31, 2008 KSY Everyone is different. Some people find it difficult to enter into hypnosis state on their own (especially those without previous experience or exposure to hypnosis at all).
New to hypnosis? Try this book out! Been using hypnosis for a while now? Try this book out! December 12, 2008 John F. Napier (Arcata, CA., USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First off, let me say that I don't write very many reviews. That said, I have been using hypnosis with wonderful success off and on for years now. I have been hypnotized to stop smoking and to overcome several obstacles in my life. I have both used tapes and mp3's made for me by others and have also made some myself for very specific things. Until receiving this book in the post, however, it never occurred to me that I could not only become hypnotized in order to cause positive changes in my life but that I could also do so with my eyes open! I have been using this book an awful lot since its arrival and on an almost daily basis. I love this book and have found it very relaxing and beneficial to say the least! Additionally, I have (like another reviewer stated before me.) found that by using the deepening script I have gone much deeper then ever before with other methods of hypnosis and that by doing so I can effect a greater amount of change in my life! This book and its scripts work great for me and I knew this from the very first time that I did the "Master Induction." Blair argues that you will know that you have put yourself into a hypnotic state when you begin to slur the words that you are reading (...or something like that! Humble apologies for the mis-quote sir! (;o) and that's exactly what happened into the middle of the third paragraph for me. The type all became slightly blurry, I began to feel a bit more distance for the pages, and for the first time I actually "saw" what a hypnotic state looked like......Wow'sa'h. I was hooked! I have yet to do the hypnosis while writing exercises in this book but will in the coming weeks. Until then I plan to continue to enjoy the differences that this wonderful book is making for me....Or should I say that 'I' am making for me? (;o) Thanks so much Forbes Robbins Blair for putting this book together and publishing it! I really works well for me and I would completely and totally recommend it to anyone that is looking to improve the quality of their lives. Yup...You get 5 stars!
Interesting and Helpful November 9, 2008 healthybabe I have found this book very interesting. I have recorded the scripts so that I can listen to them as I am lying in bed which is nice when I don't feel like reading it, but I do think it has been helpful reading it out loud as the method suggests. I feel like I get more out of it when I read it but I figure listening when I am too tired to read is better than nothing. I find that it has helped me have a better mind set and I am able to handle difficult instances better because I remember the suggestions in those times. The mind is very powerful and I have found this an easy way to tap into that power. I am still experimenting with the techniques in this book but I recommend this book because the author makes it so easy to do and I have felt that it has helped me. It is worth a try!
Excellent - Easy to Read, and it Works! September 26, 2008 Ella M. 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've used the script for Total Self Confidence from this book for the past week or two, on average about every other day, and see a complete difference in how I carry myself and how I interact with others. The idea is simple; letting your conscious mind relax and allow ideas to be entered into your subconscious. This is an amazing way to learn positive traits and flush out old, negative ways of thinking. It's not "messing with your mind", any more than working out at the gym "messes with your body". I must say, that if you do this, you have to be open-minded and believe it will work. Set all skepticism aside. I can't wait to try some of the other scripts! This is the best $10 I've ever spent.
