Your First Choice in Understanding Love Addiction January 4, 2009 Dorothy Nelson (Phila, PA) If you sense that you might have an addiction to love or the term "love addict" rings true on a conscious or sub-conscious level, this book should be your very first choice in your search for understanding. Susan Peabody, one of the foremost authorities on love addiction, writes an accessible, clear and straightforward book, which describes in detail the influences, symptoms, forms and progression of the dis-ease known as love addiction. Most notably she includes questionnaires and worksheets to help you determine if, indeed, you might be a love addict. "addiction to Love" not only offers an incredibly realistic description of love addiction, but also a road to "recovery" and what to look for once you are ready to begin your search for love again. Her writing style is encouraging, readable, to the point and never sugar-coated, which allows you to gain open-minded, objective knowledge without being exposed to lengthy, discursive writing. This is a gateway book. It serves as your first step into the depth, despair, and ultimate healing of a serious, debilitating and at times deadly disease.
Uhmmm... January 29, 2008 M. J. James 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Turns out I wasn't love addicted. I was just dating a manipulative [..]. I figured out how to not take [..] so seriously (including myself) and now I don't need this book. Not that it was really that helpful. I skimmed it and it didn't offer much in the way of guidance. I just needed to realign myself with reality instead of living so much in my imagination. When I asked myself "well, why does this matter," it all fell into greater perspective. Also, higher self-esteem helps.
Very enlightening May 14, 2007 A. Amzil 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I felt this book was very enlightening, yet was easy to read with straightforward theories and lots of examples and practical advice.
Brilliant Book about Love Addiction October 9, 2006 Sandra Patrick 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is the only book I have found that describes all the different kinds of love addicts. I am a torch bearer, but my last boyfriend was a seductive withholder. God knows what I would have done if I had not read this book and found out what was wrong with me. Books have been written about love addiction since the 80s but this problem only seems to be getting worse among the 20-something crowd. For even more about love addiction go to Susan's website [...]. It will blow your mind to find out how this problem is destroying lives.
Great book for women September 1, 2006 Sanzo 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
This was a great book for women. I would also recommend Confusing Love with Obsession by John Moore.
